ARTIST OF THE DAY: CARROL BOYES (SOUTH AFRICAN DESIGNER)

ARTIST OF THE DAY: CARROL BOYES (SOUTH AFRICAN DESIGNER)

When I lived in South Africa, I wanted to buy EVERYTHING. I loved the vibrant color palette of dishes, and the exquisite woven baskets; the glassware, and the pewter & silver designs. When I discovered Carrol Boyes I knew that owning a piece of art by this talented South African designer would augment my living space upon returning to my home, New York City. And so, I settled on a beautifully, fine crafted, letter opener made of pewter, designed and sculpted by the one and only, Carrol Boyes. Her designs can be purchased online, so if ever you have need to give a unique, lasting, statement piece, I suggest anything made/crated/created by Carrol Boyes.

She and I often sat outside on the weekends when I was little and look at LIFE magazines. She loved to savor the fashion, the faces, the details of clothing…she always talked about stitching…she taught me how to assess well made clothing by the stitching…
