CLOWNING & PHYSICAL COMEDY WORKSHOP INTENSIVE
The Clowning/Physical Comedy Workshop is a 2 or 3 day intensive that offers students the opportunity to intimately explore clowning and physical comedy in a safe, accepting, and all inclusive space. The workshop is grounded in the personal experiences and truths of each student that is necessary for the clown to emerge.
The students will be led through a variety of clowning exercises, Express stories through the physical body (in silence and with dialogue), and create sophisticated scenes prompted through our discussion and communal play. In this workshop, students will understand the necessity and elation (and gorgeousness) of truth telling in performance. And As a collaborative team we will fall far away from judgment and fear, and dive into the deep end of imaginative play.
Who is this workshop for?
Clowning provides opportunities for actors to connect on a deeper level to the self and explore their greatest asset - Their body, their history, their truth, and their instinctual need to tell stories. The demand for this fundamental training and exploration of self is essential for actors to create in the most authentic way.
Clowning provides the Director the greatest giftS: Contextualizing content, visualizing the possibilities of Physical performance in space; and creating with multiple Mediums: sounds, silence, music, dialogue - a directors landscape to find their voice and having raw material/actors with whom to work.
Dancers Not Only have the opportunity to choreograph and sculpt their bodies to bring their clown characters to life, they are called upon to express their personal stories with imperfections, without the weight of scoring perfectly, and within the context of the Group conscious.
Musicians have the opportunity to move beyond their genius of producing sound to incorporate the body & story as they work to achieve the next kinesthetic, musical experience.
Undergraduate & Graduate Students welcomed.
Preferably no more than 12 students. (PER WORKSHOP)
Little Clown selves waiting to be born.
