ARTiST OF THE DAY: ENRIQUE PICHARDO

ABOUT ENRIQUE PICHARDO

Enrique Pichardo Egea is a contemporary Mexican Expressionist. He paints faces and figures hauntingly, whimsically, in magical ensembles, colorful, cheerful, idiosyncratic, mysterious. In his paintings we find many reminiscences of famous Mexican painters such as Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo and Rodolfo Morales as well as of Mexican history with symbols of pre-Columbian times. You can also discover influences of European artists like Picasso, Miro and A.R. Penck.

Pichardo combines these elements in their own way, at ease, original, surprising. So he invites us to change the way of seeing, perspective and focus over and over again, to amaze ourselves with the unexpected again and again.

Enrique Pichardo Egea was born on April 17, 1973 in Mexico City. There he lives and works today. He attended the prestigious National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving named “La Esmeralda” (ENPEG) and has exhibited internationally, in Barcelona and Miami.
