ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Every morning, I walk from my apartment in Chelsea to the West Village (it’s a 6 minute walk from door to door) to pick up the woman with whom I work out (at an appropriate & mandated Social Distance) on the Hudson River Parkway. She is one of the only people I talk to (never touch) and with whom I have a pact that binds us to healthy living and a modicum of human contact during this pandemic. Without her, I feel I would die. Our commitment to working out every single day (we do CrossFit workouts, aerobics, & or walking every day…today is DAY 58) and we are going strong. This connection has kept us sane (we say this aloud to each other every day, too).
On my walks, I see the myriad of very sophisticated and thoughtful COVID-19 advertisements that are available for viewing on the electronic billboards and kiosks that don the streets of this state-of-the-art 21st Century city, that I love so deeply, and live in with great caution & respect. Of the many posters and designs I have seen, one artist that captured my attention and with whom I have fallen in love is the work of Meredith Wing of MooMooi. Yesterday, I stood at one of the electronic kiosks awaiting the Mother’s Day posters/ads she created…I waited 15 minutes and watched all the ads scroll on by, hoping it would appear, so I could take a photo, look her up, and write about her today. I you enjoy her work as much as I do. It’s brilliant and beautiful. I am going to write to her, too. I want to meet this woman. I think we could partner together on a project. I feel our aesthetics are aligned. What do you think?
