ARTIST OF THE DAY: PIET MONDRIAN
As well as abstract art Mondrian was also passionate about dancing! Apparently he didn't like slow traditional dances like waltzes or tango, but enjoyed high energy, fast dancing styles! He even called one of his abstract paintings Broadway Boogie Woogie after a popular dance of the time. Read more…
ARTIST OF THE DAY: MARC CHAGALL
Marc Chagall was born in Belarus in 1887 and developed an early interest in art. After studying painting, in 1907 he left Russia for Paris, where he lived in an artist colony on the city’s outskirts. Fusing his own personal, dreamlike imagery with hints of the fauvism and cubism popular in France at the time, Chagall created his most lasting work—including I and the Village (1911)—some of which would be featured in the Salon des Indépendants exhibitions. ON A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT MEREDITH WING
On my walks, I see the myriad of very sophisticated and thoughtful COVID-19 advertisements that are available for viewing on the electronic billboards and kiosks that don the streets of this state-of-the-art 21st Century city, that I love so deeply, and live in with great caution & respect. Of the many posters and designs I have seen, one artist that captured my attention and with whom I have fallen in love is the work of Meredith Wing of MooMooi.

ARTIST OF THE DAY: ANNIE LEIBOVITZ
ARTIST OF THE DAY: ADELE
I first saw Adele at the HighLine on 16th Street & 9th Ave…I don’t even remember the year. It was BEFORE she was known around world, like she is today. My friend, Bridgit, invited me to stand in the warehouse space and listen to her sing. She was sitting on a stool, talking to the audience, as if we had stopped over for a drink or a cup of tea, and asked us to listen to a new song she wrote. Of course, there’s no need to report my stage of mind and reaction to this heavenly creature. I just share about how grateful I was to have had that moment in history in time. Thanks, Bridgit for inviting me to join you that night. I love you and I love Adele.
